Polythene Repair tape, 75 mm x 25 M, fixes most tears and holes in your polythene cover

Polythene Repair Tape
The polythene repair tape is clear, and colourless, and effectively repairs any split or tear in your cover.
The advantages are that the tape is polythene, so it is flexible and moves with your cover.
The tape has very aggressive glue which sticks well to the cover, as long as it is dry. There is a 150mm wide tape available which if you have a jagged tear will usually straddle both sides of the tear without having to use cross tapes to hold it together. The most popular tape is 75 mm and serves most purposes
Make sure your cover is completely dry and free from dust or algae.
Allow an extra inch of tape all around the tear or hole. Overlap each piece of tape by an inch or so if the tear or hole is larger than the tape width
The tape is applied both inside and outside. The tape can be placed by one person, however if an awkward tear or position using two people is easier
One person holds a board on the inside of the sheet and the other person applies the tape to the outside of the sheet. Roll the tape onto the cover with a wallpaper edge roller.
Swap places and apply the tape to the inside of the cover.

Anti Hot Spot Tape, 25 mm 30 mm and 50 mm

Anti Hot Spot tape

Anti Hot Spot Tape is a special polyethylene foam tape designed to insulate the polythene tunnel cover from the steel frame of the polytunnel, which can get very hot in summer. It also isolates it from the rough galvanised surface of the steel frame which can cause chafing and weakening of the cover, especially in blustery, windy conditions.
The XL Anti Hot Spot Tape uses aggressive glue which sets about 3 hours after application. It has  3mm thick foam, because then the memory in the foam is not so strong as to lift the adhesive from the frame before it has set.
If you are building a new tunnel make sure that all the steel work is free from grease and oil which is applied during the bending process. Wipe down with a methylated spirits rag to clean this.
If you are re cladding an old tunnel make sure that the tunnel is free from dust.
Press the tape down hard onto the steel work. This will start the setting process and ensure that the tape sticks firmly to the steel and won’t creep round later when it gets hot.
Cover all brackets, clamps etc with tape to isolate all parts of the polythene from the steel, or use strong cloth 50 mm tape

PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR OUR POLYTUNNEL KITS WE SUPPLY SUFFICIENT TAPE TO COVER THE HOOPS AND FIXINGS. THE POLYTHENE WILL TOUCH ONLY THE HOOPS WHEN THE POLYTHENE HAS BEEN PUT ON CORRECTLY.

THERE IS NO NEED TO COVER THE RIDGE TUBE, DIAGONAL BRACE, RIDGE WIND BRACE OR CROP BARS.
Do NOT put the Anti Hot Spot tape on until you are ready to put on the polythene cover as initial exposure to the elements may cause the outer film layer to peel off. Store in a dry place

Anti Hot Spot Repair tape puts an isolation barrier between the old foam Anti Hot Spot tape and your new polythene sheet.
This has two advantages. If you have very old PVC foam Anti Hot Spot Tape, it isolates the polythene from harmful chloride foam so that you get the guaranteed life out of your new cover. The second benefit is that it makes the slipping of a new cover onto the tunnel very much easier.
Anti Hot Spot Repair tape is 50mm wide and makes it easy therefore to cover over your old Anti Hot Spot Tape, the extra width sticking to the steel of the structure. The rolls are 50 M long and so will cover approximately 7 hoops on most tunnels.
