At Five Star Polytunnels we supply our tunnels with a comprehensive set of instructions, colour coded and picture based. Its a step by step process and it is perfectly acceptable to install your own tunnel and lots of people do. However, we are also lucky to be able to recommend either James White or Ed Field to construct our tunnels. The installation and covering of your tunnel is the key to its longevity and if you are at all unsure, it is a good investment to pay to have the work done for you. The Superthermic EVO Anti Condensation Polythene supplied by XL Horticulture comes with an 8yr UV and anti condensation (drip) warranty, ideally you want your polythene to last at least that long.
We are experiencing much higher wind speed, on a more frequent basis and we all want our tunnels to be standing the next morning, we have always recommended that all our tunnels, regardless of size or position are installed with post mix concrete around the ground tubes and this continues to be the case. Before taking over the Five Star Polytunnel business, we (Chris and Caroline) were constructing polytunnels across Wales, so the information we provide and have passed onto James and Ed comes from years of experience. James or Ed will offer a first class service so its worth the wait, even when the are busy. Please note that nothing is guaranteed, that is an impossibility in today climate!
It is possible to construct and cover a polytunnel all year round, so long as you know how to to tighten the polythene, a Five Star polytunnel offers a unique jacking system so regardless of whether your polythene is buried in a trench or fixed to rail, James and Ed will always achieve a drum tight premier finish. As we move into the winter, the days are shorter and the weather is less friendly, the installation teams are getting a bit behind but it is still a very good time to place your order with Five Star Polytunnels if you are hoping to have a tunnel ready for next Spring.
