Ground tubes are the foundation

Ground tubes are the foundation when assembling our polytunnel on soil.

See us at www.fivestarpolytunnels.co.uk.

It is  important to get each ground tube installed properly.

Base Plates are used when putting the polytunnel kit on to a  concrete base.

Roger of Desborough was very innovative. He assembled a 10 x 20 Five Star Polytunnel kit over a weekend in his back garden. The soil is very fine. Roger got old gallon plastic pots, and cut up a piece of 25 mm tube intended for a wardrobe clothes rail, for the sockets for the ground tubes. He placed a ground tube in each one, and sealed with Denzo tape. He then filled each pot with concrete. The container goes to a depth of two feet, so avoiding the polythene.

Roger’s other innovations were to have internal timber work with  150 mm gravel board all round each sides. The timber was a knocked down price for fencing panels from a local timber merchant. Many panels had  storm damage over the winter. The timber is fully treated. Support racks were laid over the crop bar sets.
